is a unique, high-quality, research-based afterschool education, enrichment and recreation program that helps elementary school children succeed academically and socially. It provides kids with much more than a positive, safe afterschool environment.

Developed by Duke University, Innovative Research & Training (IRT) and Eckerd Youth Alternatives, a national leader in programs that help kids succeed, the
Eckerd
Afterschool
program features a well-balanced curriculum of enrichment, recreation and academic activities within a socioemotional framework.
Guided by highly trained, well-qualified and enthusiastic staff, children will learn about making, choosing and keeping friends, maintaining self-control and making good decisions, and will receive plenty of real-time opportunities to practice new social skills. The end result? Kids will learn how to:
- Respect themselves and others
- Deal with frustrations and disappointments effectively
- Choose and maintain positive peer relationships
- Be conscientious and responsible

Engaging and Enriching Activities
Through performing arts, music, arts & crafts, games and more, children will learn important skills that will benefit them for the rest of their life! Academics are integrated throughout, with considerable emphasis on literacy, including reading, writing and speaking skills.
