About Pinellas Early Intervention and Prevention Services
The Pinellas Early Intervention and Prevention Services are designed to increase social competence among elementary school youth while reducing factors that place students at risk for involvement in drug and alcohol abuse and juvenile delinquency.
Established in 1993 as Hi-Five Pinellas, Eckerd’s Early Intervention and Prevention Services (EIPS) provide a variety of early intervention and prevention services in Pinellas County.
- The “Hi-Five” program is a universal school based-character education program serving 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.
- “After School” programming targets elementary school youth with a research based curriculum developed in collaboration with Duke University which focuses on socio-emotional and cognitive skill development through multiple domains utilizing fun and interactive activities.
- Teacher Training and Family Outreach is offered to program schools and program families.
- Mentoring matches community volunteers with local students in 4th and 5th grades and gives students important one-on-one guidance.
