"EYA has given him a chance for a very promising future..."

“Today, it has been almost two months since my son came home after a 10-month stay at EYA. Prior to entering the program at Camp E-Sun-Alee, he had been completely out of control for several months. He clearly needed help that my husband and I could not give him. Aggression, destruction, rudeness was the ordinary rule of the day in his life. From the first day I visited the camp during an open house, I had a deep feeling that this facility could provide the help he needed. The staff appeared to be very committed to the campers. The structured, well-supervised environment was exactly what I was looking for to help my son. We were not disappointed.

The actual act of taking our son and leaving him at the camp was the hardest thing I have ever done and the days and months ahead were not much easier. There were ups and downs, but the staff at the camp was ALWAYS there for the support and encouragement that our family needed.

Today, he is a much more mature, confident teenager than I ever imagined. We still have some difficult times and issues to deal with. The difference is that we now have additional knowledge of how to handle each situation. The staff helped my husband and I to understand more about dealing with a troubled child. He now understands that we, as a family, are going to be there through thick and thin. He knows why we have rules and boundaries. EYA has given him a chance for a very promising future and a way to relate to the world around him in a positive, respectful manner. Our prayers are with the campers and staff and we thank God for the blessing they have been to our family.”
