  • Eckerd Youth Alternatives gets child protection contract in Hillsborough County

    Tampa Bay Times (January 7, 2011) – Can anyone guarantee Hillsborough County’s thousands of children under state protection won’t be hurt or killed or neglected or abused? On Friday the state replaced the home-grown, nonprofit agency that has tried for the past decade. It turned over a $65.5 million annual contract for child protection services to another agency.     The Tampa Tribune (January 7, 2012) – David Wilkins, state secretary for the Department of Children & Families, has accepted a committee’s recommendation to replace Hillsborough Kids Inc. as the lead agency for child welfare services. read more

  • Child Agency Approval Pending

    The Tampa Tribune (January 6 , 2012) – A smooth transfer of services is promised by Eckerd, which will take over in the county for longtime service provider Hillsborough Kids Inc. on July 1. David Wilkins, secretary of the state’s Department of Children & Families approved the selection today. read more
