Children in traditional foster care are provided temporary care through Eckerd Kids’ foster home services. Eckerd Kids recruits, trains and supports individuals to provide temporary care, love and nurturing to children 0-18 years of age. In addition to serving as the legal guardian for children, foster parents also serve as mentors who actively help parents improve their ability to safely care for their children. In some cases, foster families may adopt children when the children cannot return to their biological family.
Therapeutic foster care (TFC) is available for children and teens ages 3-18 who are in need of extra care and supervision until they can be reunited with their natural family or adopted. Services include basic living and social skills training, educational support and mental health counseling as needed.
