Alternative Day Schools
Offer Different Paths to Educational Success
Eckerd Youth Alternatives operates two Alternative Day Schools, Cascade Academy in Berlin, NH and Diamond Pond Academy in Stewartstown, NH. The Alternative Day Schools serve at-risk middle and high school students who have not succeeded in traditional classrooms. Referrals for both schools are made through public schools.

Improving Academic Skills. Improving Lives.
In a safe and supportive environment, students not only improve basic skills in academic work, but also socialization, decision-making, impulse control and conflict resolution. Teachers and staff model and reinforce positive, appropriate social, emotional and behavioral responses, as well as assist students in strengthening problem solving and social skills. Educational services consist of a blend of traditional academics, computer-assisted instruction and experiential educational activities

The overall goal of both Alternative Day Schools is to return youths to their home schools with the tools to continue their education successfully.
