ReEntry Programs

EYA ReEntry Services help keep young people on course with their academic, vocational and social skills by providing ongoing support through a network of community resources.

Community-Based Transition Services
A Community-Based Support Program, EYA ReEntry Services is unique in its balance of supervision with service. For example, youth meet with their aftercare case manager before release from residential treatment. It is common for ReEntry counselors to take a youth to a first job interview or to re-enroll in school. They are with the youth for virtually every step of the re-entry process. Treatment services include:

  • Transition — special case management services for youth 30 - 60 days prior to their return home or transfer from a non-residential commitment program.
  • Post-Residential/Non-Residential — case management; pre-vocational and vocational services; educational services, including referral and enrollment assistance and adjustment counseling; physical fitness, recreation and leisure time activities; completion of court sanctions to include monitoring and coordination; and progress reporting.
  • Assessment and Classification — formal assessments by re-entry staff to determine appropriate level of services.
  • Crisis Intervention Services — provided in the community for youth and their families.
  • Community Involvement — including community service and other pro-social activities.

Andy — St. Lucie ReEntry
"I believe that Eckerd ReEntry is a great and systematic program. It has helped me to hold my job, be around the house more often, and overall has helped me to be a better person thanks to the dedication of the counselors to each of their clients. I believe this system can help anyone who wants the help. Eckerd ReEntry isn't a program where you are the only person trying to get yourself off probation. My counselor (Mr. Vensel) helped me to hold my job, do my community project and pay my restitution. Not only did he help me, he gave my family information about employment opportunities. I don't feel as though he was just a probation officer, I feel as though he was a personal friend of the family. If all ReEntry programs were like yours, then I don't see why so many people get recommitted.”

Robert — Circuit 11 ReEntry
Robert successfully graduated in January 2002. This young man worked as a butcher's assistant throughout the nine months of his ReEntry supervision. ReEntry had a big impact in helping him stay focused and avoid negative peer influence.
