Our school-based Violence Prevention services are provided to elementary and middle school students through a proven model called Eckerd Hi-Five, which utilizes an evidence-based violence prevention curriculum aimed at reducing impulsivity and aggressive behavior and increasing children’s social competence.
Through weekly role playing, modeling, and thematic art projects in classroom settings, students are taught empathy training, impulse control, appreciating diversity, anger management, negotiation, and mediation skills.
According to a Harvard University study, Eckerd’s Hi-Five model positively impacted student behavior at nearly twice the level of other programs operating across the United States.
In addition to the in-school Violence Prevention services, Eckerd provides additional interventions for smaller, more intensive groups. These students receive additional assistance through group mentoring and participation in community service projects.
