Gregg’s Story

A Lesson in the Power of Caring

Given up for adoption at three years of age, Gregg was in and out of foster homes throughout his childhood. He was also in and out of trouble. One day, he broke into a house under construction and set it on fire. As a result, he was sent to an Eckerd outdoor therapeutic program. On a trip to the Smokey Mountains, some of the staff and campers got sick from drinking bad water. Gregg saw how “everybody just took care of each other.” It became a turning point in his life. Today, when he’s not busy running a real estate company in southern Florida, he takes his wife and family back to those same mountains to relive his experience – minus the bad drinking water, of course.
